Isle of Raasay Distillery Unveils Limited-Edition Marsala Cask Single Malt

The Isle of Raasay Distillery, one of Scotland’s most exciting new whisky makers, has launched its first-ever Marsala Cask Single Malt, matured entirely in rare Marsala Vergine casks from the historic Frazzitta winery in Sicily. Bottled at 50.7% ABV, this limited release of just 12,300 bottles worldwide promises a remarkable fusion of Scottish island character with Sicilian winemaking tradition.
A Marriage of Two Coastal Worlds
Marsala Vergine, similar to a bone-dry sherry, is celebrated for its deep, nutty, and savoury qualities. The Frazzitta family, among Sicily’s oldest Marsala producers, season these casks with wine for up to 30 years before passing them to the Raasay distillery. The result is a whisky layered with flavors of baked apple, dried pear, apricot, maple syrup, and toasted nuts, enriched by balsamic sweetness and finishing with smoky, roasted coffee notes.
Crafted on the Isle of Raasay
Every step of production—distillation, maturation, and bottling—takes place on the small Hebridean island. Known for its lightly peated style, the whisky is crafted by separately maturing peated and unpeated spirits before blending them for balance and complexity.
This release also introduces a new design identity for Raasay’s limited editions, featuring a slate-grey palette inspired by the island’s volcanic rocks and fossil-rich landscape.
Reviving Island Tradition
Since its establishment in 2015, the Isle of Raasay Distillery has not only produced award-winning whiskies and Hebridean gin but has also boosted the local economy. With over 25 employees in a community of just 161 residents, the distillery has become a vital part of island life.
The Marsala Cask Single Malt stands as both a celebration of innovation in Scotch whisky and a tribute to place, uniting the rugged Atlantic shores of Raasay with the sun-soaked vineyards of western Sicily.

The Isle of Raasay Marsala Cask Limited Release is now available via selected independent UK retailers and through the distillery’s official online shop.
