Multiple Injured in Grand Sierra Resort Shooting

Reno, Nevada (July 28, 2025): A mass shooting at the Grand Sierra Resort early Monday morning left multiple people injured, prompting an immediate police response and ongoing investigations.

The Reno Police Department (RPD) confirmed they received reports of an active shooter at the resort around 7:25 a.m. Officers quickly located the armed suspect within minutes near the valet area, leading to an officer-involved shooting.

Suspect Hospitalized, No Ongoing Threat

According to authorities, the suspect—an adult male—was shot by police during the confrontation and transported to a local hospital. His current condition has not been disclosed.

Officials emphasized that there is no ongoing threat to the public, and law enforcement continues to secure the surrounding area to ensure the safety of guests and staff.

Victims and Police Injuries

Law enforcement reported multiple victims with varying levels of injuries. Authorities are still working to account for everyone involved and will release the exact number of victims once confirmed.

Several responding officers also sustained minor, non-gunshot injuries during the incident.

Shooting Location and Investigation

The shooting occurred outside the main entrance, near the valet area and north parking lot of the Grand Sierra Resort. Authorities have closed off the area for an extended investigation.

The Sparks Police Department has taken over the officer-involved shooting investigation, while Nevada’s Department of Public Safety is providing additional support.
